Prof. Liu Jianping, Party Secretary and Chairman of the University Council
Professor Liu Jianping was born in March, 1953. He graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Beijing Steel & Iron College in 1976 and resumed his master degree study in Mechanical Engineering in 1980 after several years of working at the same university. Joining the faculty after his graduation, he served at the Division of Metallurgy of the Department as lecturer, Associate Division Director, and Associate Dean of the Department from 1983 to 1992. He was appointed Deputy Administrator of Chongwen District of Beijing Municipality in 1992 and served as Director of District Committee of Science & Technology concurrently. In 1994, Professor Liu Jianping came back to the University of Science and Technology Beijing (the former Beijing Steel & Iron College) as Deputy Director of Board of Directors of university-run enterprises, Deputy Secretary, Secretary of CPC Committee, and Chairman of the University Council. Professor Liu Jianping came to Tianjin University in April 2002 as University Secretary of CPC Committee, and Chairman of the University Council. Professor Liu Jianping's research interest focuses on Machinery Dynamics and New-type Metallurgy Equipment.
Prof. Li Jiajun, President
Professor Li Jiajun was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, in November, 1955. He received his bachelor degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tianjin University, in 1982, and then started to work as a faculty member at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the same university for nine years. During that period, he received his master degree from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in 1988. Soon afterwards, Professor Li went abroad and obtained his PhD degree in Materials Engineering from University of Wale, Swansea, in 1995. Then he came back to Tianjin University to continue his academic career and served as the Deputy Director of Metallurgical Teaching and Research Office at School of Materials Science and Engineering for two years and then Dean of the School for one year. He was appointed as Deputy Director of Tianjin Municipal Education Commission in 1998, and then President of Tianjin Polytechnic University from 2001 to 2003. He served as Chairman of Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and Head of Tianjin Intellectual Property Office until he was appointed President of Tianjin University in January, 2011. Professor Li Jiajun's research interests focus on metallic materials and composite materials. |
