Records of TU were rewritten during “The Future We Want — Beijing Model United Nations (BMUN) 2012”, hosted by China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing from April 4 to 8. The five-student team from TU Model United Nations Association won the Best Delegation Award, the first time for TU to get this award in the BUMN.
A TU undergraduate travels nine European countries through sixteen cities within 20 days. With a meager budget of 15,000 and a masterfully crafted travel plan, 22-year-old girl Wu Jiangping leaves her footprints and the spirit of TU students across Europe. “After all, what better ways are there for undergraduates to experience life than to explore the world courageously with youthful spirits and a backpack?” Wu said.
The Third National College Students Arts Festival was held in Hangzhou from Feb. 7 to 13. More than 7,000 teachers and students from 403 colleges and universities throughout the country participated in this event. TU students won one gold, two silver and three bronze medals, displaying a vibrant youthful outlook of college students and the fruitful outcomes of the arts education of TU.
The Center for Cabin Air Reformative Environment (CARE) was inaugurated at TU on December 1. The center was pioneered by TU under the leadership of Prof. Yan Chen, chief scientist of the "973" project, combining efforts from 4 renowned corporations from home and abroad and 7 prestigious Chinese universities.
From Nov. 30 to Dec. 5, Peiyang Chorus visited the U.S. and successfully presented the first public performance of The Song of Wind (a grand symphony oratorio) in California Theatre, San Jose, together with Silicon Valley Symphony and some local Chinese arts groups. Besides, Peiyang Chorus also performed at San Francisco State University, California State University, East Bay and University of California, Berkeley.
